New Members
New members are always welcome. We do ask that you consider the commitment
required to be part of a growing and improving
choir with all that entails. We rehearse at the Maroondah Federation Estate (32 Greenwood Avenue, Ringwood) every Wednesday evening and
occasional Mondays prior to a concert. Rehearsals commence at 7:00pm and
conclude at 10.00pm. Please note that the ability to understand music or be able sight read music is not a requirement of our choir, essentially being able to sing in tune, hold your part and blending in with other sections. The Melbourne Welsh do not perform with music on stage and apart from the above requirements your ability to know your music and retain the pieces in memory is an essential skill. Application can be made by contacting the secretary, filling in the form
below, or simply turning up at a rehearsal on a Wednesday evening at the
Maroondah Federation Estate and registering your interest to be part of
the fastest growing and most exciting Male Choir in Australia. You will
be asked to sing some scales and / or a short rendition of anything of your choosing so
that our Director of Music
can place you in an appropriate section (1st or 2nd Tenor, Baritone or Bass). The aim of the probationary period is to give you time to settle in and learn the routine, but also to show your commitment to the choir through regular attendance etc.
After a probation period of no less than 3 months, you will be required to audition two pieces from memory (at least one in Welsh). The committee will then consider your application before admitting you as a full
member of the performing choir. Should you have any questions at all with regard to membership, please
feel free to contact us via email or mail:
